My name is Susan and I am a professional performance coach. I specialize in working with both male and female athletes (from the ages of 14 all the way up to professionals) looking to enhance their performance through the development and implementation of mental performance-enhancing skills, strategies, tools and habits. It is proven that mental preparation and performance is 80% of how well an athlete performs overall and it is my personal belief and experience that mental training and development is undervalued, with the current development and training of athletes being disproportionately focused on the physical aspects of performance.
Having played at the prep-school, NCAA D-1/IVY League, and N.W.H.L levels, I experienced first-hand the many pressures and challenges of performing at the top level of hockey and what it takes to get, stay and win there. My professional training as a mental performance specialist started at Princeton University, where I studied Sociology and Psychology, with a focus on human behaviour and the affects performance has on personal and professional levels of success. It then continued on as I went back to school upon graduating, while playing in the National Women’s Hockey League for the Toronto Aeros, to earn 3 post-graduate degrees and certifications in: Professional Coaching (CLC), Group/Team Coaching (CLSC) and Neuro-Lingusitic Programming (NLPP).
